The lovely drive starts at the Dry Comal Creek Vineyards in New Braunfels and winds throughout the hill country for miles of typical Texas scenary, ending at Sister Creek in Sisterdale. New Year’s Eve: The San Antonio Parks Foundation, along with the city’s Parks and Recreation Department, produces the annual New Year’s Eve event, Celebrate San Antonio. Celebrate San Antonio attracts approximately 250,000+ people to the downtown area. There is no other New Year’s Eve event of this size with fireworks offered free to the public in the state of Texas.
With live music, thousands of excited revelers, fireworks and musical entertainment on four stages during Celebrate San Antonio, this event grows in popularity each year. The huge downtown fiesta begins at 6 p.m. on S. Alamo Street between Market and Durango and throughout historic La Villita. Admission is free and open to the public and festivities continue until 12:30 a.m. The highlight is the countdown to midnight and the spectacular Fireworks Extravaganza showcasing the Tower of the Americas. Also children are welcome in the La Villita where carnival rides and games await them. Free
